Go-ahead for Gateshead Arena
Plans have been approved to develop the new £260million Gateshead Arena. Construction is expected to start in the early New Year with an opening pencilled-in for late 2023.
Gateshead Arena will sit on the NewcastleGateshead waterfront at Gateshead Quays and will includes a world class arena for up to 12,500 people, a purpose built conference and exhibition centre with over 7,000 sqm of flexible event space plus restaurants, a dual branded hotel and large areas of outdoor realm and performance space.
An announcement on who will be the hotel operator is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Harbour Hotels to open a second hotel in Salcombe
Harbour Hotels have announced plans to open a second hotel in Salcombe in Devon, due to open in spring 2021.
The new hotel - Harbour Beach Club - will be the redevelopment of the former Tides Reach Hotel. It will be a sister hotel to the group’s Salcombe Hotel & Spa.
Harbour Beach Club will include 50 bedrooms, a casual restaurant and a beach bar plus a luxury spa featuring an indoor pool, sauna and steam room with five treatment rooms. Harbour Beach Club will major on watersport activities as befitting its waterfront location.
Harbour Hotels group now operate 15 properties across the south of England.

Innside Newcastle opens in December
Innside Newcastle is set for a December 2020 launch - in Newcastle’s Quayside area overlooking the River Tyne.
Innside Newcastle will have 161 bedrooms. Innside Newcastle will have an open Living Lounge offering breakfast, snacks during the day and dinner in the evening.
Innside Newcastle will have five meeting rooms including a 'Big Ideas Space' – all equipped with the latest technology. Leisure facilities include a fully equipped gym.
Innside Newcastle will be the second Innside Hotel to open in the UK joining Innside Manchester with 208 bedrooms which opened in 2015.
Future expansion plans for the group include the scheduled opening of Innside Liverpool in spring 2021.
Innside Newcastle is a short walk from Newcastle Central station and a short drive from Newcastle International Airport.

Travelodge open latest hotel in London
Travelodge have just opened their latest hotel in London – Travelodge Plus London Mile End. It joins a group of over 80 Travelodges across London.
Travelodge Plus London Mile End has 88 bedrooms. All rooms are furnished with a king size Travelodge Dreamer bed, blackout curtains, a 32" Samsung LED slimline Freeview TV, tea and coffee making facilities, showers in all bathrooms and 30 minutes free wi-fi.
Travelodge Plus London Mile End has a Bar Café serving breakfast through to dinner.
Travelodge London Mile End is located in Mile End Road in east London within one mile of Bethnal Green and Stepney Green tube stations and five miles from London City Airport.

New Hotel planned on the banks of the Clyde
Plans have been published for a new hotel in Glasgow. A 200-bedroom hotel will be one component on a 2,500 sq-mt site which will include a major housing development together with leisure venues.
The site at Yorkhill Quay is located on the northern banks of the River Clyde in the West End of Glasgow, between the Riverside Museum and the Scottish Event Campus. The site is currently derelict.
The planned development features a new pedestrian bridge connecting to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).
The SEC is a major conference and events venue with three main auditoria, 34 breakout rooms and 22,500 sq-mt of exhibition space across five halls.
A public consultation will run until November 30 with a planning application expected to be submitted in early 2021.

Westin opening in London next summer
The Westin London City & Residences is a new build hotel development on Upper Thames Street near St Paul’s Cathedral in central London.
Westin London City is being created on the former Queensbridge House site. It will be the first hotel under Marriott's Westin brand in London.
When complete the five-star, seven-storey Westin London City & Residences will boast river-facing views and will include 222 bedrooms including 10 suites and a Presidential Suite plus a restaurant and a wine bar with views over the River Thames. Westin London City & Residences will feature an indoor swimming pool, a 375m² spa and a WestinWORKOUT fitness studio. In addition, 830m² of modern meeting and event space will be available, including a Junior Ballroom and four meeting rooms, as well as a 24-hour business centre.
Westin London City & Residences is scheduled to open summer 2021.
