New Hotel planned at Edinburgh Airport
Construction work begins later this year to build a new hotel at Edinburgh Airport.
Accor have secured planning consent for a new 251-bedroom Ibis Hotel. It will be located next to the airport and is expected to open in early 2023.
Ibis Edinburgh Airport will feature the brand’s ‘urban plaza’ design and will include flexible social and working areas. Facilities will include a restaurant, bar and breakfast area plus 125 car parking spaces.
Ibis Edinburgh Airport will join existing Ibis Hotels in Edinburgh including: Ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile – Hunter Square; Ibis Styles Edinburgh St Andrew Square Hotel and Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge – Royal Mile Hotel

Dalata Hotels expansion plans
Dalata Hotels Group currently have ten new hotels under construction in the UK which are projected to open during 2021 – 2022. Between them they will bring over 2500 additional hotel bedrooms onto the market. The list includes:

Hotel developments in Manchester
Construction work is now expected to start on site later this year to build a new Maldron Hotel in Manchester.
The Maldron Hotel will be a 16-storey building with 188 bedrooms. It will be located on what was a carpark site in Chapel Street, part of the Greengate regeneration area of Salford.
A two-year construction period is anticipated for the Salford project.
In the meantime, construction of the new Maldron Hotel in Charles Street in central Manchester is due to complete later this year. This is also a new build hotel with 17 storeys and 278 bedrooms.

Leicestershire Golf Club plans new hotel
A Leicestershire golf club has published plans to build a new hotel on its course.
Forest Hill Golf and Country Club in Botcheston, Leicestershire is to submit plans for a new 152-bedroom hotel with a leisure and spa complex plus meeting and events facilities. The hotel would be constructed within the club’s grounds, on land currently occupied by a redundant nine-hole golf course.
The new hotel would be called ‘The Club at Forest Hill’.
The plans have been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council planners.

New Convention Bureau formed
Conference News is reporting a new regional convention bureau: Meet Bristol & Bath. It has just been created to help attract conferences and events to the region.
Meet Bristol & Bath will target a global audience and is looking to develop the association, corporate and incentive travel businesses worldwide.
New projects planned in the region which will no doubt feature in the Meet Bristol & Bath portfolio include:
The YTL Arena Bristol which is due to open in 2023. The Arena will feature three interlinked arenas including a flexible hall with 11,000sq-mt of floor space for exhibitions, trade shows and conventions plus a 17,080-seat arena.
Ashton Gate Stadium, home of Bristol City Football Club, is aiming to develop a state of the art 4,000 capacity sports and convention centre, adjacent to their existing venue. The development will include a 4-star hotel.
New hotels scheduled to open in Bristol over the next few years include the Leonardo Hotel Bristol Glassfields scheduled to open in 2021 with 200 bedrooms and a new 255-bedroom Clayton Hotel scheduled to open in early 2022. Both will feature extensive meeting and events facilities.
Meanwhile in Bath the new Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein visitor attraction opens this Spring. This will include an escape room experience for groups.

New Marriott opens at Keele University
The brand new Courtyard by Marriott Keele Staffordshire has just opened at Keele University's Science and Innovation Park.
Courtyard by Marriott Keele Staffordshire has 150 bedrooms. Initially the hotel is just open for key workers. Once lockdown restrictions are eased guests will have access to the new Scholars Restaurant and Bar, a coffee shop, two meeting rooms for up to 30 delegates plus a fitness suite.
Bedrooms at Courtyard by Marriott Keele Staffordshire are furnished with a seating area, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels plus a private bathroom with a hairdryer and a shower. All rooms feature air conditioning and work space.
Courtyard by Marriott Keele Staffordshire is located just off the M6 in Staffordshire. It has 180 car parking spaces.
Keele University Events & Conferencing features a large range of events spaces to accommodate everything from small team meetings to 600-delegate events. Facilities include the Grade II-listed Keele Hall.
