New Liverpool Hotel back on track
A new contractor has been appointed to complete the redevelopment of North Western Hall in the centre of Liverpool into a hotel, with a completion date now set for March 2022.
North Western Hall is set to become a 201-bedroom Radisson RED Hotel with restaurant, bar and conference facilities.
North Western Hall is a Grade II-listed building dating from the 1870. It was built as a railway hotel alongside Liverpool Lime Street station. But it closed as a hotel in the 1930s and was left empty for years. In 1996, it was converted into student accommodation.

Hilton London Metropole renovating
Hilton London Metropole is going ahead with a multimillion-pound refurbishment, which is due to be completed by summer 2021.
The refurbishment will transform every part of the Hilton London Metropole including all 1096 bedrooms and suites, all restaurants and bars plus the hotel’s 35 meeting and events spaces. The refurbishment will also see the opening of a 200sq-mt fitness studio. At the same time the hotel will also upgrade its wi-fi offering.
The refurbishment started last autumn.
The new look Hilton London Metropole will highlight London and its rich history with new designs reflecting the different London boroughs.
The four restaurants in the Hilton London Metropole will feature new drinking and dining concepts. A new all-day British brasserie and a market-style outlet will also be introduced.
Hilton London Metropole is located on Edgware Road in central London, a 2-minute walk from Edgware Road tube station and 650 yards from Paddington Station.

Vine Hotels add to their portfolio
Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa in Devon is the latest hotel and conference venue to join the Vine Hotels portfolio.
Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa is set in 200 acres of South Devon countryside near to Dartmouth.
Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa has 35 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant, bar and bistro plus seven self-catering lodges. Leisure facilities include a nine hole and an 18-hole championship golf course plus the Dartmouth Spa. The main events suite is the Dartmouth Suite seating up to 100 delegates. It overlooks the golf course and features a sun terrace. The Kingsbridge Suite is slightly smaller seating up to 90 delegates.
Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa joins eight other hotels in the Vine Hotels portfolio. These include: five properties in Sheffield plus the Best Western Cresta Court hotel in Altrincham, The Charlecote Pheasant in Stratford and the Mercure Dolphin Southampton Centre hotel.

Aloft Birmingham Eastside opens
Aloft Birmingham Eastside opens today, 22nd February, in Kent Street in Birmingham’s Eastside district. Aloft Birmingham Eastside is a modern, loft inspired hotel in the heart of Birmingham's Eastside district and within easy walking distance of Birmingham’s three main rail hubs in the city centre.
Aloft Birmingham Eastside has 195 bedrooms, all air-conditioned with a flat screen television, desk and free wi-fi. Tempo! is the main restaurant in Aloft Birmingham Eastside. The hotel also features: Re:Fuel a 24-hour snack bar and WXYZ Bar. Leisure facilities include an on-site gym.
Aloft is Marriott Hotel’s boutique brand. Aloft Birmingham Eastside will be operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
The adjacent Eastside Rooms is a new purpose-built conference venue which is expected to open in early April. Eastside Rooms will feature an 880 sq-mt Affinity Suite, the largest pillar-free events space in central Birmingham. In addition, the Eastside Rooms will include 14 new and modern meeting rooms accommodating from 10 to 50 delegates plus the Belmont and Ashstead Suites which are flexible spaces accommodating over 200 guests.

New Management at Sunborn
Sunborn, the Finnish-based property company which pioneered the original floating hotel concept in 1998 will take over the management of its London Sunborn superyacht hotel.
Sunborn has also been granted approval to bring in a new luxury 220-bedroom, 134m-long yacht featuring state of the art ecological technology to replace the company’s existing vessel which is moored at Royal Victoria Square near the ExCeL London exhibition centre.
Sunborn is planning further yacht hotels in American and Europe. The group also has a yacht hotel in Gibraltar and spa hotels in Finland.

New Aparthotel planned in central Birmingham
Plans have been submitted to convert the Royal Angus Hotel on St Chad’s Queensway in the centre of Birmingham into a 174-bedroom aparthotel. Plans also include a communal ground floor facility and a winter garden.
The Royal Angus was formerly a Thistle Hotel. It is located within a ten-minute walk of Birmingham Snow Hill station and Colmore Business District. The hotel’s new owners, SevenCapital, also operate the four-star Park Regis Hotel located at Five Ways in Birmingham’s Edgbaston.
Conversion plans have been submitted to Birmingham City Council for approval. Watch this space for news on the outcome.
