Our latest news briefing starts as usual with the latest hotel and venue news from London before heading northwards.

London:

The Tower Suite at The Tower Hotel by Thistle in central London has reopened following completion of a major refurbishment programme. The suite will now accommodate up to 500 guests for gala dinners, large-scale conferences, product launches and celebrations. It can be divided into smaller rooms for smaller events. The suite has floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Tower Bridge and panoramic views across London.

Plans have been published to convert London’s BT Tower into a hotel. No final details have been published yet although the addition of a rooftop swimming pool is part of plan.

The City of London Corporation is planning a two-stage redevelopment of ‘The Annexe buildings’ in West Smithfield – the site of a Victorian-era market located near Farringdon and the new London Museum. The first phase will see a new food market launching in early 2028. Phase Two, due to complete by 2030, will see a new boutique lifestyle hotel plus a landscaped park with green space for a range of community events.

Dumbleton Hall Hotel, a Grade-II listed country hotel, has reopened following a major £25million redevelopment. It is set in 19 acres of gardens and woodland in Evesham in the Cotswolds - on the border between Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. The hotel has 36 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar and three conference rooms that can cater for meetings from 2 to 100 delegates.

Nobu Hospitality, co-founded by actor Robert De Niro, is planning its first UK countryside retreat near Stamford. in Leicestershire. Plans include a luxury hotel, restaurant and bar, spa and wellness facilities plus branded residences - all set within a 185-acre site. We will follow its progress.

Treehouse Hotel Manchester opened last summer with 224 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar plus six meeting and events suites including a cinema. This June this year the hotel will open its final phase – a new 14th floor with nine suites, a new restaurant plus a rooftop lounge. The Treehouse Hotel Manchester is located in Blackfriars Street in the city centre, on the site of the former Renaissance Hotel. Holdsworth House has joined the Classic British Hotels Collection. It is a 17th century, Grade II-listed Jacobean manor house located just outside Halifax in West Yorkshire. The hotel has 33 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar, a spa and wellness facility plus four dedicated meeting spaces seating up to 120 delegates.

Plans have been submitted to build a new hotel in Hull city centre. It would be a seven-storey Moxy branded hotel with 122 bedrooms, part of the Marriott hotel chain. We will monitor its progress.

Sanctuary Knocker is a new luxury boutique hotel which has just opened in the shadow of Durham Cathedral. It follows from the refurbishment of the historic building, previously known as The Court Inn. The hotel has just four themed, luxury suites on the upper floor with a restaurant and bar on the lower floor.

Investment company, Victory Group, has acquired Cameron House – the 17th century estate located on the banks of Loch Lomond, near Glasgow. Cameron House completed a major renovation following a fire in 2017. The hotel now has 208 bedrooms and suites, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities plus 700 sq-mt meetings and events space for up to 500 people.

New hotel grouping, Oberland, are planning to open their first hotel - the Arthouse Glasgow - on 24 June. The hotel occupies the now transformed former Abode townhouse in Glasgow’s cultural district. The new hotel will have 76 bedrooms and suites plus a restaurant and bar.

Radisson are planning to open their first Prize by Radisson branded hotel at the end of 2026 in central Glasgow , close to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) and OVO Hydro events venue. It will be in a building which was formerly a Campanile Hotel.  The hotel will have 163 bedrooms and suites plus an all-day dining concept.

Bacck in London the following four hotels are expected to open between now and the end of the year. They inlcude:

Dukes London – late summer 2026 Reopens in St James following an extensive refurbishment with 88 reimagined rooms and suites, a restaurant and a signature bar.

Cambridge House Auberge Collection – September 2026 Based in an 18th century Georgian building in Mayfair, the hotel will open with 102 bedrooms, a restaurant and  extensive wellness facilities. The hotel is in Mayfair, close to Green Park, Buckingham Palace and the West End. It’s opening will mark the UK debut of the Auberge Resorts Collection.

St Clement  - September 2026 St Clement hotel will be located in the 180 Quarter development in London’s Temple. It will house 105 bedrooms, including 14 suites, a two-storey penthouse, all-day café and bar plus a late-night venue Bobbi’s Bar.

Delano London – late 2026 Opening in Kensington in west London, it will have 67 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar.

Finally, The Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (BCEC) together with the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, have launched a new environmental protection initiative supporting biodiversity and contributing to long-term climate action. For every new meeting or event confirmed in April and May, they will plant a tree in the Cairn Canopy – a tree grove located in the Scottish Highlands.

On the same subject, Radisson Hotel Group is focusing on the adoption of sustainable building standards, renewable energy and resource-efficient hotel operations. The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre is the first Verified Net Zero hotel in the UK and the group has set a target of 100 Verified Net Zero hotels by 2030.
