Royal College of Music new meeting space
The Royal College of Music in London’s South Kensington is to reopen this July following completion of a £40million investment. Several spaces will be available to hire for events and meetings.
Two new performance spaces will be available together with a new conservatory which has been created in a disused courtyard space.
Spaces available for hire include The Britten Theatre, the Performance Studio and the Parry Rooms. These rooms will be available primarily outside term time although some spaces may be available during term time.
The Royal College of Music is located in Prince Consort Road sandwiched between the Royal Albert Hall and the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.

Birmingham Assay Office reopening meeting and events facilities
Birmingham Assay Office is reopening its meeting and events facilities from Monday 12th April.
Birmingham Assay Office was founded in 1773 to provide assaying (testing) and hallmarking of precious metal items include diamonds and gemstones.
Birmingham Assay Office moved in 2015 from its original premises in Newhall Street in the city centre to a new purpose-built facility in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter – improved and extensive meeting facilities came with the move.
The main Elkington Suite, named after the 19th century Birmingham silverware company, is a versatile space for conferences, large meetings, training courses, presentations and events.
The Elkington Suite is fully equipped with state-of-the-art AV equipment including a ceiling-mounted projector, large screen, lapel microphones, speakers and laptops.
The Elkington Suite will accommodate up to 70 delegates and can be arranged in a variety of ways - all adhering to Government social distancing guidelines with attendees at least one metre apart and following stringent coronavirus health and safety standards. These include deep cleaning before and after each booking, with hand sanitisers available on arrival.
The Boulton Room is available as breakout space, for board meetings or for a refreshment or lunch break. The Boulton Room will accommodate up to 14 delegates.
The Birmingham Assay Office is less than half a mile from the Jewellery Quarter station, and just over one mile from Birmingham New Street Station.

New look for Cambridge venues
A number of new-look facilities and new venues will be available for the conference organiser in Cambridge when face-to-face meetings can resume.
Homerton College has opened a new North Wing featuring an auditorium with retractable seating for 105 delegates plus 18 new bedrooms. The auditorium is equipped with state-of-the-art AV and has been designed as a flexible space which can be adapted for a number of uses.
St Catherine’s College has updated and redesigned its Dining Hall and other spaces which will provide a flexible suite of rooms that connect directly through its Atrium and the College’s 150-seater McGrath Conference Centre.
The project will create new space at St Catherine’s College for a range of meetings, with capacity for 190 delegates in the Dining Hall and 20 delegates in the new Dr Sydney Smith Room. The project is scheduled for completion in Summer 2022.
King’s College has unveiled a new look for its Old Garden Hostel building. The project has included a full refurbishment of the building plus the addition of a third floor providing 40 extra bedrooms. The existing 30 single bedrooms have also been enhanced with new ensuite bathrooms bringing the total number of bedrooms on site to 70; all available for conferences and events in the College’s vacation periods.
New kitchens and dining areas have been introduced at both Jesus College and Gonville & Caius College.
Wesley House now has two newly refurbished small meeting rooms, suitable for 10-12 delegates, board room style.
In the hotel market: Hilton Cambridge City Centre is about to unveil a new look for its Isaac Newton Suite. The refurbishment includes a full audio-visual upgrade. New 86-inch smart 4K UHD screens have also been fitted in the hotel’s Byron, Wordsworth, Hawking and Tennyson rooms.
New venues scheduled to open in 2021 include The Graduate Cambridge hotel in the city centre; Turing Locke Aparthotel just north west of the city centre; the Hyatt Centric Hotel within the University of Cambridge’s Eddington Development and The Fellows House Cambridge, Curio Collection by Hilton five minutes from central Cambridge.

New Hotel planned in Warrington
Village Hotel Warrington is set to get a new hotel as a neighbour at Centre Park Square close to the centre of Warrington
Plans for a new seven-storey hotel with 126 bedrooms have just been approved in Centre Park Square. The site is currently used as a 104-space surface car park.
Centre Park Square is earmarked as a new rail and business hub. The new hotel will be close to Warrington Bank Quay station as well as to a new link road to central Warrington.

The Telegraph Hotel opens May
The new Telegraph Hotel in Coventry’s city centre will open on 17th May.
The Telegraph Hotel is based in the headquarters of the former Coventry Telegraph newspaper. The building has just completed a two-year-long, £18million transformation.
The Telegraph Hotel will have 88 stylish bedrooms including the Lord Iliffe Suite, which reimagines the original owner’s private apartment.
‘Forme & Chase’ is the all-day dining restaurant and bar set in a glazed courtyard at the Telegraph Hotel.
‘Generators’ is a rooftop space with a ‘printworks-industrial’ theme which overlooks Belgrade Square.
‘Editors One and Editors Two ’ are flexible events suites at the Telegraph Hotel with capacity for 12 to160 delegates in a range of spaces plus a lounge area and bar.
‘Boardroom’ is a private dining room/meeting room for up to 12 delegates
‘Directors’ is another private meeting and events suite for up to 12 delegates.
The Telegraph Hotel is located in Corporation Street and is a short walk from Coventry station.

Radisson RED landing at London Gatwick Airport
Radisson Hotel Group has published plans to open a Radisson RED hotel at London Gatwick Airport later this year. This follows the launch of Radisson Red Hotel London Heathrow in September 2020.
Radisson RED London Gatwick Airport will feature 185 contemporary bedrooms plus a bistro-style restaurant and bar, a fitness room and social meeting spaces. Bedrooms will be fully equipped with the latest in-room facilities including a 49" Smart TV with built-in Chromecast, a mini-bar, tea & coffee facilities, an iron and ironing board, black-out curtains and free wi-fi.
Radisson RED London Gatwick Airport is set to open in the third quarter of 2021.
