Jurys Inn Exeter, now an AA four-star accredited hotel, has unveiled a brand-new look following a £1.95million investment transforming the bedrooms, bar, restaurant and lobby.

The 170 refurbished bedrooms now feature a new pastel colour scheme and are furnished with DREAM beds by Jurys Inn. All bedrooms have high speed wi-fi and a flat screen TV with Freeview.

Jurys Inn Exeter has seven fully equipped conference and events rooms suitable for small meetings, seminars and training sessions which can accommodate up to 90 delegates. Each meeting room features adaptable furniture, air conditioning, a projector and screen plus stationery.

The public areas at Jurys Inn Exeter have also been transformed and now feature a modern bar and restaurant with a new, contemporary dining menu.

Jurys Inn Exeter is located in the centre of Exeter, a ten-minute walk from Exeter Central and St James Park stations.

Plans have just been published by owners of Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol to build a new sports and conference venue. The £100million project is being built on land next to the stadium.

The venue will include a 4,000-capacity indoor venue for sport and events, a 230-bedroom hotel plus office and residential accommodation, a car park and a football museum.

The plans are due to be submitted to Bristol City Council at the end of September and, if approved, work is expected to start on the site in May or June next year.

Wildes Hotel Group has submitted a planning application to create the first Wildes-branded boutique hotel in the centre of Chester.

The group intend to convert offices in Bridge Street, which are currently vacant, into a new 16-bedroom boutique hotel and spa.

The office building is a Grade II-listed building set within the historical Rows of Chester with views over Eastgate Street. The building features huge fireplaces, stone windows and original beams – all of which will be ‘sensitively refurbished’.

The Wildes Hotel will feature a bar and restaurant, as well as a rooftop pool and spa.

If everything goes to plan a spring 2021 opening is envisaged.

Planning permission has been granted for the UK’s first ‘super slender’ tower block in Birmingham.

The ‘211 Broad Street’ skyscraper will rise to 37-storeys, or 116m in height, but will be just 9.5m wide. The building will house an aparthotel featuring a bar, restaurant, gym and residents lounge.

The skyscraper block will be located near Brindley Place, one of the new stops on the West Midlands Metro extension and within easy walking distance of city centre Birmingham.

Construction is expected to be finished in 2022.
