Plans for new net zero hotel
Zeal Hotels has submitted plans to develop a 142-bedroom net zero carbon hotel in East Devon.
Zeal Hotels was established in 2012 and the new 142-bedroom hotel would mark the beginning of Zeal Hotels' plans to build more sustainable hotels across the UK.
The first net zero carbon hotel planned would be located at Exeter Science Park.
Planning approval is anticipated by July 2022 which will allow construction to start shortly afterwards.

Ruby Zoe Hotel Notting Hill Gate officially ‘Tops Out’
A ‘Topping Out’ ceremony was held for a new Ruby Zoe hotel development in London’s Notting Hill Gate earlier this month.
The construction of the 173-bedroom Ruby Zoe started in mid-2021 and completion is envisaged in early 2023. Ruby Zoe will feature the group’s ‘lean-luxury’ philosophy.
Ruby Zoe will be the group’s third hotel in London. It will join Ruby Lucy on London’s Southbank plus Ruby Stella which is also scheduled to open in 2023 in Clerkenwell.
The German-based group is planning a fourth Ruby hotel in London located just a few minutes’ walk from Tate Modern, the Southbank and Borough Market. This fourth project will bring the total Zoe portfolio to 571 hotel bedrooms in central London.

New Hotel coming to Edinburgh
One of the most interesting new hotels expected to open in the next twelve months/two years is the new W Edinburgh Hotel – not least from an architectural standpoint.
The 12-storey new-build W Edinburgh will be situated in the heart of the city’s St James Quarter. It will feature a unique façade crafted from a winding steel ‘ribbon’.
W Edinburgh will have 214 bedrooms including 20 suites and one Presidential Suite. It will include a rooftop restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace, a spa and gym plus 2,450 square feet of meeting and events space.
W Edinburgh will form the centrepiece of a new 1.7 million square-foot development in Edinburgh. We will monitor its progress and advise accordingly.

New Conference Centre planned in Southport
Plans for a new events and conference centre at Southport’s Marine Lake have just been unveiled.
Proposals include a flexible conference and business events venue plus a new theatre, entertainment space and a water and light show attraction.
The new events centre would replace the former Southport Theatre and Convention Centre which closed its doors in 2020.
A public consultation on the proposals is set to launch later this month.

Winter opening for Mandarin Oriental Mayfair
Mandarin Oriental Group is set to open a new hotel in central London this winter - The Mandarin Oriental Mayfair.
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will open in Hanover Square. It will include 50 bedrooms and suites plus 79 private residences. It will feature a gastronomic restaurant, a salon lounge, a bar, a private rooftop terrace with bar overlooking Mayfair as well as an indoor swimming pool and a fitness centre and spa.
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will be a sister property to the five-red-AA-star Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, which opened in 2000.

New Exeter Hotel now open
The new Courtyard Exeter Sandy Park Hotel has now officially opened. The new hotel, at the home of Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club, is the latest feature in the expansion of the Sandy Park site, following on from the re-development of the East Stand at the beginning of the year.
Courtyard Exeter Sandy Park has 250 bedrooms plus a fitness centre.
Courtyard Exeter Sandy Park features the ‘View’ Restaurant and cocktail bar situated on the top floor of the hotel which offers a 360-degree view across the Exe estuary and the South Devon countryside.
Courtyard Exeter Sandy Park has three in-house meeting and events suites each seating up to 32 delegates theatre style.
Larger meeting facilities are available in the Sandy Park stadium itself. It is home to five executive suites plus eighteen seminar suites catering for up to 800 delegates. All suites are air-conditioned and equipped with the latest audio-visual technology.
Courtyard Exeter Sandy Park is situated by junction 30 of the M5 within easy reach of Exeter International Airport and central Exeter.
Staying with the subject of Rugby Clubs, Hotel Brooklyn is set to open summer 2022 beside the expanded Welford Road Stadium, home of Leicester Tigers rugby team.
Hotel Brooklyn Leicester will include 191 bedrooms, a 120-cover restaurant plus a bar and lounge and extensive meeting facilities both in the hotel and inside the stadium.
