Plans are afoot to transform the Grade II-listed Central Methodist Hall in the centre of Birmingham into a major 150-bedroom hotel. The building which dates from the beginning of the twentieth century has now been vacant for the last three years and has fallen into disrepair.

The Irish-based hospitality group Press Up are behind the plans. The Central Methodist Hall could become the group’s first Dean branded hotel outside Ireland.

Plans would provide up to 150 hotel bedrooms plus a rooftop restaurant and bar, housed in the north part of the building. A 1,500-seat events space is also included in the plans. Retail outlets and bars would be housed on the ground floor.

Central Methodist Hall is located in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham.
