After so long, it was great to have the opportunity to venture out into the world and get back into work mode and experience three great hotels in the North West.

Carden Park Hotel

Fantastic setting with an endless driveway set within 1,000 acres of countryside, Carden Park Hotel has something for everyone - accommodation, meetings, spa and golf - and easily accessible from Chester city centre and nearby main roads / motorway.

With 197 bedrooms and a choice of 18 meeting rooms, many of which were still being refurbished during our visit, Carden Park Hotel certainly offers an outstanding product and with the variety in size of conference space it can accommodate everything from board meetings through to large annual events.

Approaching Carden Park Hotel you are in awe of their stand-alone spa which is the ultimate luxurious experience. It features a spectacular all-weather proof Spa Garden, 14 treatment rooms, outstanding thermal facilities as well as a restaurant: Elements, with views spanning the Spa Garden and the 1,000-acre estate.

Carden Park Hotel has the ‘wow’ factor and it was great to see the continued refurbishment to all areas even though we have just been through a very tough year. It reflects the vision they have for the hotel and ensuring clients benefit from this investment.

Rookery Hall Hotel

A short drive from Carden Park Hotel, we arrive at Rookery Hall Hotel.

Rookery Hall Hotel is a lovely country house hotel set in 38 acres, albeit 15 minutes from the M6 and 10 minutes from the centre of Crewe – and there is a feeling of space and calm.

Rookery Hall Hotel added a conference centre in 2007 along with Executive Bedrooms which gives them a capacity of 200 delegates for an event with a total of seven meeting rooms and 70 bedrooms of which 39 are in the separate block.

Again there has been a lot of activity at Rookery Hall Hotel over the quieter period ensuring all spaces are in tip-top condition ready for the busy period in the latter part of the year - fingers crossed anyway !!

We were treated to a lovely lunch which was served in an additional feature to the garden - a Tipi - a great initiative to encourage guests to continue to visit and certainly with all the added features of heat and great service. It certainly proved to be well worthwile. (Sadly, this will be removed on the 17th May when inside dining returns).

Wychwood Park Hotel

In the afternoon, we visited Wychwood Park Hotel which is a modern, contemporary venue and located close to the town of Crewe—with easy access to Junction 16 of the M6.

You enter Wychwood Park Hotel into a large open plan reception and lounge area which is light and airy with access to the grounds.

Wychwood Park Hotel offers a lot more conference space with a total of 25 rooms including two large function suites all featuring a very modern design with a maximum capacity of 400 delegates.

Wychwood Park Hotel has now completed a £3million refurbishment project with all 113 bedrooms, bar, restaurant, reception and lounge area completely renovated.

Wychwood Park Hotel feels spacious and fresh and certainly any meetings requiring syndicate space would benefit from the location of the meeting rooms, so close together.

Wychwood Park Hotel has a dedicated focus on meetings and events. That said, the refurbishment has enabled them to offer very comfortable bedrooms, dining and relaxing space to complete the package.

Our thanks to all three hotels for their time and hospitality.
