Dominvs Group has received planning permission for a two-hotel scheme in Nine Elms, to the west of the US Embassy in London.

The two hotels will have different operators.

The north hotel with 11 storeys and 360 bedrooms will be a midscale hotel whilst the south hotel will offer a luxury branding. This hotel will be 15 storeys with 477 bedrooms plus a ground floor café and a rooftop restaurant and bar with views towards the River Thames.

The two hotels are on the site of the former Victorian pleasure grounds at Nine Elms.

The hotels will be managed by two as yet unnamed hotel operators.

The Shakespeare North Playhouse is set to open in July 2022 in Prescot, Merseyside. The unique building is the only 17th-century style, timber-built ‘Cockpit’ theatre outside London and it can seat up to 450 people for a performance.

The Shakespeare North Playhouse is not just reserved for performances of Shakespeare’s plays. The theatre has a range of meeting and events space - all available to hire.

Spaces include the main Cockpit Theatre available for meetings or dinners on the stage. The Learning Centre and the Exhibition Space will both accommodate up to 80 delegates. The Studio will seat 55 delegates with a Meeting Room, the smallest space seating up to eight people. Outside in the grounds of the main theatre, the Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden offers amphitheatre style seating space.

A full catering package is available.

The Shakespeare North Playhouse is located in Prospero Place in the centre of Prescot, close to Liverpool and with good access to the M57, otherwise known as Liverpool’s outer ring road.

Aston Villa Football Club, the greatest football club in the world according to my other half, has just published a £100million+ improvement plan for its Villa Park home in Birmingham.

The first phase will include a new North Stand connecting into an upgraded Trinity Stand which will see capacity for the stadium increase to over 50,000. The plans also include the introduction of ‘Villa Live’, a new commercial destination venue and community space.

The project has to go through various planning stages before the ‘spades hit the ground’ but the prospect of a top-class new venue on our doorstep is great news for us and our clients.

Staying in Birmingham, the Alexander Stadium is an international-standard athletics venue which is about to host the Commonwealth Games this August.  

The Alexander Stadium has just undergone a £72 million redevelopment. It now offers a range of conference, meeting and events spaces that are all available for hire.  Facilities also include six hospitality boxes for smaller meetings, a boardroom plus a main function room, all with views over the athletics track .

The Alexander Stadium is located just off the M6 at junction 6 and is a stone’s throw from the centre of Birmingham.

A new boutique hotel is planned in the Castlefield district of central Manchester. The hotel will be the third hotel in Salboy’s portfolio.

The site includes two currently vacant Grade II-listed three-storeys buildings with basements - and in need of refurbishment. A 39 bedroom boutique hotel is planned together with a ground floor lobby and concierge area, a lounge bar and a restaurant.

The new hotel will be located in Liverpool Road in Castlefields. The area was home to the world’s first steam-powered railway station in 1830 and is the site of the oldest railway hotel in the world. The site is within easy walking distance of all three modern, central Manchester stations.

Best Western Hotels launch their latest hotel brand – Sadie - on Friday 1 July in Luton.

Hotel Indigo Bath has just opened its 18th century underground Vault rooms. This is the final stage of the hotel’s multi-million-pound major restoration project.

There are 12 Vault rooms at Hotel Indigo Bath. They all feature exposed brickwork highlighting their historical architecture, with soft lighting, timber finishing, vaulted bath stone ceilings, underfloor heating and high-end crafted furniture.
