Hotel du Vin Birmingham is about to embark on a major refurbishment. All 66 bedrooms at the hotel are going to be refreshed starting from the second week in May and aiming to be completed by the end of August. When the bedroom refurbishment is complete the restaurant will follow.

Hotel du Vin Birmingham occupies a landmark Victorian building, complete with its own open-air courtyard. The building dates back to 1884 and was once the city’s eye hospital.

Hotel du Vin Birmingham features the Bistro Restaurant and the underground Pub du Vin complete with its vaulted ceiling. There are four fully equipped meeting and events rooms plus a spa with a sauna, steam and treatment rooms.

Hotel du Vin Birmingham is located in Church Street on the edge of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. It is a few minutes’ walk from both Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham New Street stations.

Jurys Inn in Birmingham is working on a project to redevelop land behind its existing hotel building in Broad Street, close to the centre of Birmingham.

Jurys Inns is aiming to develop a new hotel with 261 bedrooms over nine storeys, sitting above a five-storey car park. The application site, in Berkley Street, is currently occupied by a 200-space, multi-storey car park. This would be demolished and a new hotel complex would be built adjoining the existing Jurys Inn building.

The new hotel would operate under the 'NYX' brand which first launched in spring 2017. NYX is a lifestyle brand hotel and part of the Leonardo Hotels portfolio. Both Leonardo Hotels and Jurys Inns are now part of the Fattal Hotels group.

NYX Hotels currently has sites in Madrid, Milan and Prague with its first UK hotel planned in Edinburgh.

Campanile Birmingham, part of the French hotel chain, is about to undergo a £2.5million refurbishment package.

The refurbishment will include all 111 bedrooms plus the restaurant, bar and reception areas.

Construction work is scheduled to start at the end of February and the hotel will remain operational throughout. The project is expected to last 15 weeks. It will also see the creation of new communal areas, lounge and bar plus spaces for working.

Campanile Birmingham is located in Aston. It is ideally located just off the Aston Expressway within walking distance of central Birmingham and a five-minute drive from the M6 at junction 6 (Spaghetti Junction).

The pub chain Wetherspoons has been given the go-ahead to transform a Wolverhampton pub into a hotel and national museum.

A £7million conversion plan is earmarked for 'The Moon Under Water' pub in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton. 40,000 sq ft of space over four floors above the ground floor pub will house a 70-bedroom hotel and the museum. The space has been empty for more than 30 years. 

The museum will relate the Wetherspoons’ story from its inception to the present day.

The Moon Under Water pub is located opposite the Grand Theatre in the centre of Wolverhampton.

Macdonald Burlington Hotel, in the centre of Birmingham, has just welcomed its first student on to its new chef apprenticeship programme – a programme designed to develop the next generation of professional chefs.

Macdonald Burlington Hotel is running a 15-month course in conjunction with a nationally recognised training provider. The course will offer training under the guidance of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts chefs.

The course will include masterclasses on a variety of culinary skills in butchery, fish, offal, game, bread and pastry. The apprentices will also receive individual mentoring at the workplace from the head chef and sous chef.

At the end of the course the apprentices will sit an independently assessed exam testing both theoretical and practical skills.

The Edgbaston hotel, located unsurprisingly in Birmingham’s Edgbaston, has opened their new boutique bedrooms following a multi-million-pound investment, bringing the total number of bedrooms now to 20.

The new bedrooms follow the Art Deco architectural style of the building. They are opulent and spacious and feature large sash windows together with high ceilings.

A new development kitchen has also opened as part of the expansion.

The Edgbaston is located in Highfield Road around a ten-minute drive from the centre of Birmingham.
