The pub chain Wetherspoons has been given the go-ahead to transform a Wolverhampton pub into a hotel and national museum.

A £7million conversion plan is earmarked for 'The Moon Under Water' pub in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton. 40,000 sq ft of space over four floors above the ground floor pub will house a 70-bedroom hotel and the museum. The space has been empty for more than 30 years.

The museum will relate the Wetherspoons’ story from its inception to the present day.

The Moon Under Water pub is located opposite the Grand Theatre in the centre of Wolverhampton.
