Liverpool's Shankly Hotel is set for fly-on-the-wall treatment as the star of a new BBC documentary series.

The Shankly Hotel is named after and features the football paraphernalia of Bill Shankly, the now legendary former manager of Liverpool Football Club.

‘A Very Northern Hotel’ will allow viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the inner workings of the 83-bedroom Shankly Hotel.

Filmmakers will no doubt seek to reveal the diversity of guests at the hotel and what they get up to whilst resident, especially in the hotel’s party apartments on the top floor which are unique in the city.

The challenges of managing guests’ expectations will also be one of the main themes of the series, especially when it comes to hosting events.

A Very Northern Hotel – the working title of the series – is due to air on BBC One, although dates have not yet been confirmed.

Plans have just been published by new owners to convert Fulham Town Hall in London into a new luxury hotel complete with new restaurants, events space and a spa.

Fulham Town Hall is a Grade II-listed building located in London’s Fulham Road - built between 1888 and 1890 and extended between 1904 and 1905. The Town Hall features a Portland stone façade, stained glass windows, high ceilings and grand halls. The planned redevelopment aims to preserve and enhance these original features.

Fulham Town Hall has been used as a registry office and for local events in recent years but has been under utilised since the merger of Hammersmith and Fulham Boroughs in the 1960’s.

Planning permission for the transformation has not yet been granted.

Pig at Bridge Place is located in the heart of the ‘wine garden of England’. Bridge Place itself is a secluded former country club with a strong musical heritage hosting the likes of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in the 1970’s. The house has since been restored with its ‘rock and roll’ vibe retained.

Pig at Bridge Place has 29 bedrooms including seven ‘hop pickers huts’ overlooking water meadow.

In addition, there are seven bedrooms in the main house, 12 in the Coach House, two family lodge rooms and The Barn – a two storey room in a converted former stable.

The kitchen garden at Bridge Place has been restored in the old walled garden and provides the hotel’s Coach House restaurant with home grown produce.

Pig at Bridge Place is three miles south of Canterbury and 56 minutes by train from central London.
