Arora Group has just held the ‘topping-out’ ceremony to mark completion of the main structure of a new hotel on the site of the former Savill Court Hotel & Spa in Windsor.

The 141-bedroom Savill Court Hotel & Spa is now closed and in the process of being extended, renovated and transformed. When the work is completed in early 2020 the new hotel will have 210 bedrooms.

The new hotel building is on the site of the former Savill Court Hotel & Spa and will preserve the aesthetic quality of the previous building with its Jacobean architecture and red-brickwork features.

The new Savill Court Hotel will also include a 500+ capacity ballroom, a fine-dining and an all-day dining restaurant, a champagne lounge, a tea salon and a separate bar. It will also feature a fully-integrated spa and wellness facility.

Arora Hotels is one of the UK’s leading hotel owner-operators. Its portfolio includes a wide range of airport-based hotels, particularly in Greater London and south east. The group will be adding to that portfolio when Hilton Garden Inn at Heathrow opens summer 2019.

New designs and further details have been released regarding the new hotel planned at Silverstone Race Track.

The 197-bedroom hotel will be badged a Hilton Garden Inn and it will overlook the starting grid at Silverstone.

Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will be a five-storey building and will include a reception and lobby area alongside a coffee shop, a fitness suite plus a rooftop bar and restaurant. The hotel will also have direct access, via a footbridge, to the 3,000-capacity, 134,548 sq-ft Silverstone Wing Conference Centre.

The design changes just announced include additional balconies, a champagne colour cladding and LED strip lighting.

Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone is scheduled to open in 2020.

It is not expected to open before 2023 but the construction timetable for the new art’otel London Hoxton shows it is ahead of its planned opening date. Construction is due to start this summer.

art’otel London Hoxton is an art-inspired luxury hotel. It will share a new 27-storey building with office accommodation on the lower floors.

17 floors of the building will house art’otel London Hoxton’s 343 bedrooms and suites. The top floors will include the hotel’s lounge and spa plus a destination restaurant and bar, all with skyline views.

The lower levels will feature a publicly accessible arts centre, which will include an art gallery, space for video artists and photographic studios. It will also showcase original Banksy artworks.

Friends House is probably the most environmentally-friendly events venue in central London. See if you agree.

Since 2009, Friends House has been a member of the Camden Climate Change Alliance and has reduced its carbon footprint by over 30% in the last 10 years. Friends House is powered by 100% renewable electricity, provided by Good Energy.

Friends House also has a zero landfill waste policy and even keeps two beehives on the roof, which benefits the local ecosystem.

Events catering at Friends House uses organic, Fairtrade and locally produced seasonal ingredients where possible. There are also Go Green catering options, which provide healthy, balanced meals that follow Public Health England’s Eatwell Guide at no extra cost.

Friends House is a member of the Vegetarian Society, so vegetarian and vegans can enjoy their refreshments without worrying. In 2009, the venue was awarded a Good Egg Award, followed by a Good Chicken Award in 2014, from the Compassion in World Farming organisation. This means that all the eggs and the poultry used in events catering at Friends House are produced ‘cruelty-free’.

And how do the meeting and events spaces at Friends House shape up?

Friends House has a total of 32 meeting rooms and events suites including The Light (picture) – an auditorium that can seat up to 1000 delegates. All the meeting rooms at Friends House are versatile and are fully equipped with a range of fixed and freestanding audio-visual equipment. All rooms have the added advantage of natural light. Some of the larger suites will subdivide to create space for either break-out areas or for catering.

Friends House is located directly opposite Euston Station in central London and a short walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras stations.

Friends House is Quaker-owned and does not serve alcoholic drinks but their 'mocktails' we are told are very good indeed.

Liverpool’s new Sandon Hotel, in the shadow of Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium, is now just weeks away from opening.

The Sandon Hotel is a £1m expansion of the Sandon pub and it will have 115 bedrooms.

The Sandon Hotel has been designed with Liverpool FC in mind. Deep red hues will dominate the colour scheme and guests will be surrounded by Liverpool Football Club memorabilia. The hotel will also continue to provide matchday hospitality in partnership with Liverpool FC.

Pod-style bedrooms will feature at the Sandon hotel. They will vary in capacity with the majority sleeping up to six people and others sleeping up to 10 – aimed at those travelling in small or larger groups.

The opening of the Sandon Hotel might just make it in extra time at the end of this football season but should be up and running for the start of the next campaign.
