Starwood Capital have picked London for the launch of its new Treehouse Hotel brand. The 95-bedroom Treehouse London is set to open in late 2019.

A statement from Starwood Capital said Treehouse Hotels are about freedom. “The wondrous feeling we each had as kids climbing into a treehouse and making our own ‘clubhouse’ rules. It's about friendship, community and shared secrets. Inspiring, boho and nostalgic, you'll find surprisingly intimate spaces, simple toys, books, nooks, games…and a bit of magic.” In other words, “a hotel which doesn’t take itself too seriously”.

Treehouse Hotel London is set to open opposite the BBC headquarters in central London. It will feature a penthouse restaurant and rooftop bar with 360-degree views.

Treehouse London will be the first of a planned global roll-out of the hotel brand.

Planning approval has now been granted for a new nine-storey hotel overlooking Hull's waterfront.

The new hotel is part of a plan which would also see the regeneration of two historic Grade II-listed buildings on the dockside that have been derelict for a number of years.

The new hotel will be within easy walking distance of Hull’s city centre, Old Town, Marina and Fruit Market.

Details of an operator for the hotel await publication.
