The redevelopment of Liverpool, city centre continues apace with planning approval now secured for two new hotels.

Property developers, the Elliot Group, has secured planning consent for a new 278-bedroom hotel in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. The hotel will be located on a former industrial site and is designed to service the area’s growing business, medical and academic sectors.

The Knowledge Quarter borders Liverpool’s Paddington Village which has already secured a four-star Novotel as its anchor hotel.  A number of other developments on the site include the new northern base for the Royal College of Physicians and the Rutherford Cancer Centre.

Meanwhile, plans for a new four-star hotel have received the go-ahead in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle district. The planned £20million development will occupy the now-derelict site of what was formerly the Liver Grease Oil and Chemicals building.

The new hotel will have 202 bedrooms and will feature a gym plus a top-floor restaurant and bar with views across the city and river.

Proposed opening dates and hotel operators for both projects will be released in due course.
