In York: Plans have been revealed for the redevelopment of a former HMRC tax office in York city centre into a hotel. Swinson House on Piccadilly would be replaced with a 145-bedroom Marriott Courtyard hotel. The site is located in City of York Council's Castle Gateway masterplan area.

In Manchester: Plans for EventCity to relocate have been revealed. EventCity is one of the North's largest, blank canvas exhibition and multipurpose spaces. It comprises four halls and has a maximum combined capacity of about 300,000 sq ft, catering for exhibitions, conferences, gala dinners and meetings. Subject to planning approval, EventCity will leave its current location and temporarily cease operations in July 2020, before re-opening in September 2020 on the present site of Soccerdome in TraffordCity.

In Birmingham: Hospitality group Selina is set to open a site in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter this autumn. Selina Birmingham will feature 39 rooms, suites and shared rooms. It will incorporate a lobby space, dedicated wellness area, coffee shop and a Latin-American restaurant plus a wine bar. It will be the second UK location for the Latin-American start-up.

In Rotherham: Rotherham Metroplitan Borough Council have approved the construction of a new four-storey hotel with 69 bedrooms, a ground floor restaurant and meeting rooms. It is set to be built on the site of derelict fire-damaged buildings in Rotherham.

In Margate: The opening of The Albion Rooms, the new hotel planned by the Libertines has been delayed to early 2020, although its two bars have opened. The band acquired the five-storey, 10-bedroom property in Eastern Esplanade, Margate in September 2017 and have named it after the nickname the band gave their East London flat in their early days. The new hotel will feature a recording studio.

In Windsor: The topping out ceremony for the latest addition to the Arora portfolio took place in Windsor earlier this summer. Due to open in early 2020, the former 141-bedroom Savill Court Hotel & Spa is currently being extended, renovated and transformed into a luxury, 210-bedroom hotel with two restaurants and extensive meeting and events facilities.

In Sheffield: Indian-based OYO Hotels has added the 112-bedroom Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel to its portfolio. Located on the bank of River Don in Sheffield, the hotel will be operated by OYO under a lease agreement with London Town Group. It joins a growing portfolio of hotels operated by the group which currently stands at 100 properties in 25 UK towns and cities.
