Liverpool’s roster of hotels continues to grow. Another two new hotels in central Liverpool are currently at the planning stage.

The first project, just approved by Liverpool City planners, would see the five-storey, Grade II-listed court and fire station on Dale Street (picture) converted into a four-star, 90-bedroom boutique hotel.

The hotel will feature suites in the former magistrates’ and judges’ offices, as well as themed rooms in the former cells. The hotel will also include a restaurant and bar fronting on to Dale Street, a residents’ gym, a landscaped courtyard garden and a series of meeting and events suites on the first floor.

The second project is a fresh application to convert the Grade II-listed former Martins Bank building into a 215-bedroom hotel.  A previous plan to convert it into a hotel has now lapsed.

The bank building dates from 1932 but has been empty since the late 2000s.

New plans would see a lounge, bar, restaurant, function rooms, reception and lobby on the ground floor. The top floor would include a sky bar. The former bank boardroom and directors’ dining rooms would be retained as conference and events spaces. A new gym and fitness suite would also feature.

We will monitor progress of both projects.
