etc.venues is planning to increase the meeting space at its 133 Houndsditch venue in the City of London.

etc.venues 133 Houndsditch which opened in April 2019 is set to increase in capacity by almost 50 per cent.

etc.venues is planning to add a further 16,000sq.ft to its footprint which will include seven new rooms with the largest accommodating up to 240 delegates. The additional space will feature new vapor graphic lighting features.

Currently the largest room at etc.venues 133 Houndsditch will accommodate up to 700 delegates theatre style for larger events or as seven smaller rooms for groups of between 50 and 200 delegates. An adjacent Galleria offers 15,000 sq ft of networking and exhibition space.

The additional space is located on the third floor directly above and interconnected with the existing rooms. The new conference floor is opening in April 2020.

etc.venues 133 Houndsditch is a short walk from both Liverpool Street and London Fenchurch Street stations as well as Liverpool Street and Aldgate tube stations.

The end of a four-year-long, £10million-plus renovation is in sight at Oatlands Park Hotel in Surrey. The project is now approaching completion.

120 of Oatland Park’s 144 bedrooms have now been updated and modernised. Plans are underway to add a further 33 new bedrooms.

Other developments include a new glass ceiling foyer plus a new restaurant and bar – The Mulberry and Bar 1509. Oatlands Park’s conference and events suites have also been upgraded and the hotel grounds newly landscaped.

Plans are also in hand for a new luxury spa as well as further conference rooms.

Oatlands Park Hotel was originally the site of a Tudor Palace commissioned by Henry VIII in 1538.

Oatlands Park Hotel is located in Weybridge, one mile from Weybridge station, two miles from the M25 and around 30 minutes from central London by train.

Seven new properties have joined the Best Western portfolio following the company’s deal with Corus Hotels.

The partnership includes two Laura Ashley properties: The Iliffe in Coventry and The Belsfield in Bowness-on-Windermere. These new properties will be Best Western GB’s first ‘World Hotel’ additions outside of London since the group acquired the brand in 2018.

Another five Corus properties will join the Best Western GB Group, from the Hyde Park Hotel in London to The St James Hotel in the centre of Grimsby.

Plans are afoot to convert office space above a Poundland shop in Plymouth into a 95-bedroom hotel to be operated by Oyo Hotels Group.

Oyo, the Indian-based hotel chain, claims to be the “world’s fastest growing” chain. It wants to open a new hotel in the heart of Plymouth. The group already operate hotels in Torquay and Bristol.

Oyo Group plan to operate the new hotel under the name: Plymouth Central. It would be a three-star “ lodge” style hotel with two breakout areas for serving breakfast.

The site, once a Woolworths store, is located between New George Street and Cornwall Street in Plymouth. The group are planning to convert two floors of previous office space in the building.

The year 2020 sees the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower from Plymouth on its voyage of discovery to Amerrica. The anniversary is expected to attract many visitors to the city.

Oyo currently operate 40-plus hotels with over 1,000 rooms in the UK.

The Grand Hotel in Birmingham is set to reopen summer 2020. The news, just announced by the hotel’s owners Starwood Capital Group, marks a welcome return of a luxury hotel to the centre of Birmingham. Original features of the Grand Hotel, including the stone façade, historic ceilings, mosaic tiled floors and grand staircase have all been repaired and restored.

The Grand Hotel, a Grade II-listed building overlooking St Philip’s Cathedral in the centre of Birmingham, will have 185 bedrooms and suites including new penthouse suites with views across to the Cathedral. Bedrooms will be styled in a mix of French Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco designs.

The Grand Hotel will feature a destination restaurant, two bars, a sunken rooftop terrace, a gym, and a range of meeting and events rooms. The centrepiece of the new-look Grand Hotel will be the Grosvenor ballroom, one of the finest ballrooms in the UK.

The Grand Hotel has played host to a list of royalty and famous names in the past including King George VI, Malcolm X, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill and James Cagney. The new look Grand Hotel is looking to continue where the old Grand Hotel left off.

The Grand Hotel is steps away from Birmingham Snow Hill station and a short walk from Birmingham New Street station.

Manchester's hotel pipeline is "stronger than ever" with almost 30 new hotels set to open in the next three years, reports Insider Magazine.

Mollie's Motel and Diner by Soho House Group, The Quality Street Hotel and Hotel Brooklyn are just three that will launch in 2020, joining the Hyatt Regency Manchester and Hyatt House Manchester which have both just opened in Manchester’s new landmark building - The Lume. More are set to follow between 2021 and 2023.

"By 2023, the city region will boast 98 hotels - that's 28 on top of the 70 that already operate here" claims Adrian Ellis chair of Manchester Hoteliers Association (MHA). "Over the past five years hotels in Manchester have enjoyed successive years of growth, with occupancies in the city hovering around 80 per cent for the last five years."

Adrian Ellis believes the continued rise of Manchester is the main contributor to the growth of the development pipeline.
