birmingham curzonstation1New images of the planned HS2 Curzon Street rail terminal in Birmingham have been unveiled for the first time.

Curzon Street station will include seven high speed platforms. It will also feature a tram stop and public transport connections to the rest of the city.

A Grade I-listed entrance building that dates from 1838 and served as a former station will be retained as part of the scheme and turned into a visitor centre and offices.

birmingham curzonstation3A second terminus, the Interchange Station in Solihull, is intended to provide connections to Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre and public transport links throughout the West Midlands.

Preparatory work for both stations are well under way, with a variety of enabling works including the construction of access roads and archaeological investigations.  However, Curzon Street station is not expected to open before 2026.
