birmingham LouisaRylandHousePlans have been published to convert Louisa Ryland House in Newhall Street in the centre of Birmingham into an aparthotel.

£21million four-star aparthotel would be operated by Native

The aparthotel would include 182 bedrooms, a restaurant, cafe, bar lounge and gym.

Louisa Ryland House comprise three buildings, the oldest of which is Empire House, built in 1879 and which served as a medical institute. The Grade II-listed school board offices were added in 1881 and the Grade-II listed parish offices built a year later.

Louisa Ryland House suffered significant damaged during the Second World War and further damage in 1974 by the IRA.

Louisa Ryland House has now been empty since 2012 having last been occupied by Birmingham City Council.

Plans are currently with Birmingham City Council planning department awaiting approval.
