birmingham macMidlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Birmingham has been named England's most visited free attraction outside London.

The survey was based on visitor numbers for 2017 and showed 1.13 million people had attended the Birmingham-based arts centre.

Nationwide it came in at number 12 in the company of venues such as the National Portrait Gallery and British Library in central London.

MAC also boasts some impressive meeting and conference facilities – sadly not free. There is a range of 14 spaces ranging from theatres and studios to small dedicated meeting rooms.

The Theatre is the largest capacity meeting space seating up to 219 delegates theatre style and equipped with the latest lighting and sound technology.

A full catering range is also available for private events from breakfast and refreshment breaks through to formal dinners.

MAC is located in Edgbaston opposite Edgbaston County Cricket Ground – ten minutes from Birmingham New Street station by car.
