Sadly, plans we reported last year to build a new boutique hotel in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter have been dropped.
(New Boutique Hotel planned in Birmingham)
The project budgeted at around £110million was one of the largest regeneration schemes in the historic Jewellery Quarter.
It would have seen the redevelopment of four acres of land next to the quarter's railway station into a new mixed-used complex with the new 42-bedroom hotel.
The space allocated for the hotel will now house around 30,000 sq-ft of new office space.
Sad news - especially as the Jewellery Quarter reportedly welcomes around 1.5 million first-time visitors a year.
