birmingham methodistcentralhallPlans to convert Methodist Central Hall in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham into a new hotel have been given the green light.

The planned scheme will see the conversion of the building into a 147-bedroom hotel plus a 75-bedroom apart-hotel.

The hotel will be operated by US-brand Dream Hotels. The apartment-hotel will be operated by Stow-Away.

The Methodist Hall will also have a three-storey roof extension with a nightclub planned on its upper levels.

Methodist Central Hall dates from 1904. The Grade-II listed building has spent its recent years as a night club but finally closed its doors in February 2017 since when it has been vacant.

The building is currently on Historic England's 'Heritage at Risk' register.

Methodist Central Hall is located in the heart of central Birmingham close to major road and rail links and a short walk from the main commercial centre of Birmingham.
