birmingham dreamMethodist Central Hall in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham could be reborn as a 147-bedroom hotel and a 75-suite aparthotel.

A final decision on whether to approve a multi-million-pound regeneration project is set to be made by the council's planning committee on Thursday 1 March.

Methodist Central Hall dates from 1904 and although it was built for religious purposes it has spent the last few years as a nightclub before finally closing in 2017.

The building is currently on Historic England's 'Heritage at Risk' register.

Plans submitted would see a three-storey roof extension added. The building would also house a variety of retail, food and beverage units with possibly a nightclub on its upper levels.

The project is being masterminded by the American-based, Dream Hotel Group. It has announced plans to open the first of its new boutique brand -  Unscripted Hotels – in Birmingham.
