birmingham macA new national survey of open spaces has just confirmed what we at Choice Locations have long believed - that Birmingham is Britain’s ‘Greenest City’.

The survey by Ordnance Survey (OS), Britain’s mapping agency, show that green spaces cover an impressive 15.6% of Birmingham including 93 parks, 242 play areas and 18 golf courses. Nottingham comes a close second with 15.3%.

The largest park within the Birmingham city boundary is probably Cannon Hill Park which covers 250 acres consisting of formal, conservation, woodland and sports areas.

It is also overlooked by two of the best equipped meeting and events venues in Birmingham: mac Birmingham and Edgbaston.

mac Birmingham (pictured top left) is an arts complex within Cannon Hill Park itself. It reopened in 2010 following a £15million total refurbishment. It boasts a wide range of facilities including a fully equipped theatre and cinema as well as an array of smaller meeting rooms – all with loads of daylight and the latest technology.

birmingham edgbastonCCCEdgbaston (pictured right), on the other hand, is home to Warwickshire County Cricket Cub and overlooks Cannon Hill Park.

Edgbaston also has an impressive range of conference suites and function rooms from four luxury Executive Boxes seating up to 20 delegates boardroom style to the main Exhibition Hall accommodating up to 800 delegates theatre style.

Both mac Birmingham and Edgbaston are located around one mile from the centre of Birmingham and a five minute drive from Birmingham New Street Station. Both venues have plenty of parking on site.
