birmingham compoundThe Compound, a converted former textile factory in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, has won an award

...from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in recognition of its exceptional architectural merit.

The Compound is an unexceptional former factory building on the outside but internally a complete transformation has taken place.

The Compound’s steel frame has been retained, brickwork left exposed and industrial fixtures and fittings remaining in place.

The majority of the building has been left open with parts screened off with reclaimed steel-framed windows and doors.

There is a total of 8500sq-ft of floor space which includes a bar and 25-seater cinema located in the basement.

On the ground floor is a large kitchen area, several lounges and dining areas, as well as vehicle parking.

The first floor is made up of balconies and mezzanines with living spaces and private areas plus an office and studio filled with natural light.

At the very top of the building is ‘The Treehouse’ which is a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

Additional bedrooms and bathrooms exist throughout the building.

The Compound can be hired out for photo-shoots, tv/filming and corporate events.

The Compound is located in Water Street in the Jewellery Quarter – a five minute walk from the centre of Birmingham.
