Salford City Stadium opens January 2012
Salford City Stadium opens second week of January 2012. Salford City Stadium is less than one mile from the M60 at junction 11. It overlooks Barton High-Level Bridge on the M60 crossing the Manchester Ship Canal, with the Trafford Centre in the far distance and Barton Aerodrome, now renamed City Airport, just at the rear.
 Conference and banqueting facilities are on three levels of the West Stand. They comprise a ground floor main concourse – contents of which are still to be decided although part of the area could house a gym/leisure facility. This is also reception for the stadium. The main City Suite on the 1st level will seat up to 1150 delegates for a theatre style meeting or 750 for a dinner. The Suite will split into three self-contained suites: The Irlam Lounge seating 285 for a dinner, the Cadishead Lounge seating 180 for a dinner and the Barton Lounge seating 285 for a dinner. The City Suite, with its own balcony, runs virtually the length of the stand overlooking the pitch.
The Willows Room is smaller seating 80 delegates theatre style. Twelve boxes are located on the top level – ten ‘singles’ seating up to 10 delegates boardroom and two ‘doubles’ with twice the capacity.
The suites are air-conditioned; all have plenty of natural daylight with blackout facilities and mood lighting. Wi-fi is complementary throughout. There is plenty of lift access plus 600 free car parking spaces surrounding the stadium. Salford City Stadium offers a full catering package including breakfast, lunch and dinner; from finger buffets to seated banquets.
In addition there is 685m2 of external space, some of which is being prepared for marquee events and outdoor team-building activities. Salford City Stadium will not be solely the home of Salford City Reds. The facilities, including a full size floodlit artificial turf pitch, will be available for community and corporate use.
The nearest hotels will be the Holiday Inn Manchester MediaCityUK just down the canal at ‘The Quays’ plus the Marriott Worsley Park and Novotel Manchester West both further around the M60 at junction 14.
