Denmark
On a very cold sunny December morning a luxury coach arrived at our office and then
Ines Lebaek, Sales Manager of Visit Denmark invited us aboard for some Danish hospitality.
What did we learn? Caroline and Sally went on board and met with several contacts from hotels and DMC’s of Denmark.
Meeting on the coach worked very well as each contact had their own table with seating area to allow presentations etc and a very nice lady who came round with a tray of cakes and biscuits and provided coffee while we learnt more.
We learnt that Copenhagen is a very compact city.

Several new hotels are set to open in Birmingham, but in the case of Hotel La Tour Birmingham both the brand and the hotel will be debuting in Birmingham. The former Hayley management team are the brains behind the Hotel La Tour concept. Hayley Conference Centres were sold to Principal Hotels five years ago. Grace, the Hotel La Tour Sales Manager, has just visited and given us a briefing – which we share with you.

Hotel La Tour Birmingham is the company’s first venture and it opens on 29th February 2012. The group intend to open five hotels in five years with a view to building group strength of around 12 properties. The next destination is Manchester on a site adjacent to the Lowry Hotel where work is expected to start early in the New Year. Other destinations on the radar include Maidenhead, York and Bristol. Luxurious bedrooms, good conference facilities plus a destination restaurant are the group’s main ambitions.
Hotel la Tour Birmingham will have 174 bedrooms. City Rooms at 24sq m room will feature full height windows and city views. Both main rooms will divide with an acoustic door. All conference rooms will have lcd projectors and screen, inclusive in the rates. Wi-fi will be complimentary throughout the hotel. There will be a video conferencing facility to four different destinations.
‘Aalto’ will be the Hotel La Tour restaurant, ‘Alvar’ will be the bar and ‘Cafe Ezra’ the street level cafe.
Location-wise Hotel La Tour Birmingham is at the heart of the City’s rapidly developing Eastside. It is on the ‘right-side’ of the city centre for the M6 motorway as regular drivers to Broad Street will understand. There will be a chargeable car park alongside the hotel. Hotel La Tour Birmingham is virtually next door to Moor Street station with its new fast Chiltern Trains service to London Marylebone and only a five minute walk from New Street Station.
Hotel la Tour will be a very welcome addition to the Birmingham hotel scene. We look forward to its opening.
